Described as ‘bold, brave and transformational’, the award-winning “supercampus” of Here East boasts one million square feet of versatile space. The former Broadcast and Press Centre for the Olympics (home to hundreds of reporters during the 2012 Games) now houses some of the world’s most innovative businesses including Studio Wayne McGregor, UCL, BT Sport, Plexal, LORCA (London’s Office for Rapid Cyber Security Advancement) and Ford’s European Smart Mobility Innovation Office.
Designed not only as a place for businesses to come together in collaboration, but also as a beating heart of the local community, Here East hosts a range of events throughout the year catering to the vibrant Hackney Wick area.
Awarded the highest possible Platinum grade for flexibility, diversity, and power in the Wired Score rankings, the three buildings that shape Here East (The Press Centre, the Broadcast Centre and the Theatre) offer flexible working environments, stunning views, large-scale studios, a collection of shops and studios and a 950-seat auditorium; creating perfect places for people, culture and ideas to come together and cross-pollinate.
Designed by Hawkins\Brown and developed by iCITY, a company owned by clients of Delancey, a specialist real estate investment advisory company; it’s no surprise that the campus was the recent winner of AJ100 Building of the Year and has further been nominated for Workplace Provider of the Year.
Described as ‘fresh and visionary’, one judge called it ‘a highly intelligent reuse and reinvention of an existing building, sending out a powerful message about doing more with less’; and another referring to it as ‘the future of architecture’.
